Renu Goel, PhD

Director, Northwestern Proteomics Core

Renu Goel, PhD, possesses more than 15 years of academia and industry experience in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics research, as well as exploratory and targeted quantitative profiling. Her expertise spans post-translational modifications, analysis of signaling pathways, and targeted and untargeted profiling of biomarkers of complex human diseases, such as liver diseases and metabolic disorders. Her work in proteomics and metabolomics has led to the discovery of a panel of potential biomarkers—many of which have been tested for translational applications. She has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed research publications with more than 7,000 citations and h-index of 20.

Renu has experience in management and administration at the departmental and organizational level. She has held positions as Scientist D at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (Oct 2016-Mar 2021); Associate Scientist at Sandor Lifesciences Pvt Ltd (Oct 2015-Oct 2016) and as Scientist In-charge of proteomics at the University of Delhi, South Campus (Feb 2014-Oct 2015), Senior Research Officer, Liver and Biliary Sciences Hospital, New Delhi, May (2012- Dec 2013); Faculty Scientist, Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore (Dec 2006 – Apr 2012); and Head of the Department, S.S. group of educational institution, Bangalore (Mar 2003–Apr 2006).

Renu earned her Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery at Maharishi Dayanand University; her M.Tech. in Biotechnology at IASE Deemed University; and her PhD in Biotechnology at Kuvempu University. All three institutions are based in India.
